The Mystical Dragonfly In Spiritual Awareness

by Estee Taschereau

Dragonflies are ancient insects dating back over 180 million years old. In the USA alone there are over 650 species of dragonflies in the US alone. These amazing creatures have been a symbol of grace in teachings of Feng Shui, and a symbol in shamanism for transformation and seeing in a new light.

The dragonfly spends the first two years of life in the water as a nymph. Then they change completely, growing wings and taking flight. With great speed and agility they master the art of flight in a way similar to the hummingbird.

During its two year incubation cycle in the water the dragonfly sheds up to fifteen skins. The dragonfly also holds the qualities of the water, contributing to its grace. Water holds deep seated thoughts, emotions, and the yin quality of introspect.

Because the dragonfly has two distinct worlds within its full lifecycle, with the nymph stage of its earlier water life, and the air based life of flight, the dragonfly is a symbol of transformation. With all great transitions in life we must understand that there are steps along the way, and all change takes time.

The eyes of a dragon fly give many perspectives, reminding us to look past the illusions we carry in life. The wings, though transparent, hold the luminous reflection of many colors, offering us a doorway into the many spectrums of energy we have in our spiritual realm.

The dragonfly can be utilized as a symbol for understanding an aspect of our evolutionary process in life. Taken as a whole our life is very transformational, seen or unseen. We can learn patience and faith that the steps we take will lead us in the right direction.

We can bring the influence of the dragonfly totem into our meditation. Dragonflies remind us to take flight, moving out of the stories we live within. We can look past the illusions, finding greater clarity with our emotions and introspective self.

Seeing All That Life Has To Offer

by Estee Taschereau

Have you ever looked for something, searching high and low, only to find it was right in front of you the whole time? How often have you had this visual oversight caused by a feeling, or belief? I have a story to share with you about how easy it is to overlook what is right in front of us. Perception makes a difference in our lives.

On a recent trip to Oregon I spent a pleasant evening playing cribbage with a long time friend. Our games have the competitive spin, but we always make them fun as well. This friend happens to be very good at cribbage, and rarely misses any points, and is exceptionally good at grabbing my points missed.

On this particular evening each game was close, only a few points away from either of us winning, and we were two-to-one in our match. I suggest a tie-maker game, to bring us level. After one of those head tilts and look of confusion she saw where I was coming from, and agreed to a tie-maker game.

Now the pressure was on, much more in this game than in the prior ones. We stayed fairly matched about half way around the board, but then I managed an excellent hand and crib and shot ahead. The mood at the table dropped a little with this change in the game.

We had only a couple of hands left in the last leg of the game. My friend was so close to finishing and taking the game, but when she counted she missed a few points. I could not overlook it, so I claimed the points for myself.

She responded to her loss of points by saying, I didn’t see those points, my thoughts were on the queen I threw in the crib. Those points would have, and should have, given her the game and tied our match. What happened that caused her to overlook something so obvious?

The great part of our game is that its ending fit so closely into our conversations that evening. I brought with me a copy of my new book, Now is the Time to Believe, and one of the topics I cover is how easy it is to limit what we are able to see.

Its important that we have the ability to see what is important to see, and filter out the rest. This seemingly automated system does not always work in our favor though. Sometimes we miss what is right before our eyes, overlooking what we want because we are overwhelmed with what we believe.

Sometimes, though, we step out of the way, and let a softer yet powerful image carry through, and we see with eyes wide open. There are opportunities galore in our lives, when we can see them, and many opportunities to move ahead, whether in a game or in life.

There are many ways each of us can view our own world, whether its through the eyes of bountiful, or the eyes of life challenges. We all create opportunities in our lives to open our eyes in a new perspective and change our focus.

Ambiance and Peace of Mind With Tibetan Singing bowls

by Danpa Nyeema

Religious concepts and the ambiance related to it always give peace to our mind and soul. Varieties of methods are used to meditate and concentrate in the thought of a super power. Tibetan Singing bowls are a similar kind of material used by mainly the Buddhists when they meditate. Singing bowl instigated from the Himalayan regions of Tibet, China, India, Bhutan and Nepal.

Singing bowl has become very popular and is wide spread in the trade routes. There is a thought that, Buddha, Padmasambhava, may have traveled from India to Tibet. There is no prove about the time when singing bowls came into practice, but it is believed that in India it came nearly 3000 years ago and while in Tibet 1000 year ago.

There are many beliefs regarding the use of singing bowls. Many believe that singing bowls were not initially utilized for religious practises but used as begging bowls and for food. During this time, the monasteries only used the singing bowl as a chalice. There are stories that travelling smiths used to make bowls from the materials they gathered during their journeys. While others believe, it was the creation of the monks. The singing bowls are in fact considered to be special type of bells. Instead of hanging inverted or attached to a handle, they are standing bells sitting on the bottom. Apart from this contradiction, these bowl were and still now used for mediation and is treated as a sacred thing.

Ancient Tibetan singing bowls were generally made from seven different metals including gold, silver, mercury, copper, tin and iron. Theories are also there that these bowls were made from the remains of meteorites. The sound produced by the singing bowl would differ upon how the different quantities of metals are mixed together. The metals were mixed to form an alloy, which was left to cool before being beaten up in the form of bowl. Evidences have been found that many bowls had been made from more than seven metals, which support the myth of travelling smiths. Because of all the precious ingredients in the alloy, ancient bowls have a much richer sound than the bowls made today.

The modern singing bowls are often made by pouring metals in a cast. These singing bowls are smoother and generally easier to play. Hand hammered bowls are also available in the market but the tradition of ancient bowls are still considered to be divine. Playing a singing bowl is quite easy and anyone is able to play most bowls in less than five minutes.

For playing a Tibetan singing bowl you just need to circle a stick outside the bowl very slowly, a continuous circling will produce a steady rhythm, and the slight hum will rise. It has even a capacity of producing multi-phonic sounds along with multiple harmonic overtones. The fact of this sound produced is the use of an alloys as individual alloy mixture produce various sounds. The sound produced b the modern bowls are not of very high quality and only mono phonic sound but if they are made of cheap alloys if made of bronze then can produce multiple harmonic sounds.

Tibetan singing bowls are often required in meditation and it creates such an atmosphere that one can concentrate more deeply. Singing bowls are often used in yoga classes. Someone will play the bowl while others will concentrate on their yoga exercises. This brings such an environment, which is much more original and soothing. It is also believed that the charming sound of the singing bowl keeps away bad souls around you, freeing you from all troubles.

This is a belief of the Buddhist to use this bowl but you can even use it in the outside environment and even at your home. In the west, you will find the people knowing about it more and used by them as a sacred thing and even for yoga exercise. You can even use it to produce water memory effects. Tibetan singing Bowls can be used by you to gift other or even as one of the decorative items for your home.

Believing is Seeing

by Estee Taschereau

Have you ever noticed that sometimes we see only what we want to see? You would think that as much focus as we are able to place in any part of our lives that we would see things clearly. That is not always the case, and I share with you a story about how easy it is to miss what is right before your eyes. Sometimes our perceptions get in the way.

Every now and then I trek down to Oregon and visit with a long-time friend. We always include at least one round of cribbage games in the visit, and this time was no exception. Our games, while competitive, are friendly. Still, uncalled points are always taken, without exception.

This time our games were all very close, with only a few point spread naming the winner. After our third game I suggested one more for a tie-maker, a little variation to the usual tie-breaker. This added a novel feel to the fourth and last game of the evening.

The pressure was now on more than in the previous games. We made the first turn of the board fairly even, then the second. Then a turn of the cards gave me the lead, and this was just the opposite of what we needed to have our tie-making conclusion to the match.

As we neared the finish my friend had a chance to catch up, but when she counted what could have been her winning hand she missed points. Fair is fair, so I called them and took them.

She responded to her loss of points by saying, I didn’t see those points, my thoughts were on the queen I threw in the crib. Those points would have, and should have, given her the game and tied our match. What happened that caused her to overlook something so obvious?

This turn in the game seemed to fit right into our conversation throughout the game, talking about my new book, Now is the Time to Believe. I guess she was just preparing for her chance to read the book!

We are masters at seeing what we want to see, and most of us can name at least one time when we have witnessed someone missing what was right in front of them. This discretionary vision can serve us at times, but there are also times when we miss the good things in life because our mind is still captivated by the past.

Sometimes, though, we step out of the way, and let a softer yet powerful image carry through, and we see with eyes wide open. There are opportunities galore in our lives, when we can see them, and many opportunities to move ahead, whether in a game or in life.

What do you see in your own life? Are you happy with the way things are, or do you sometimes feel that things are not flowing in your direction? When our mind is set in one direction it is difficult to see in a different light. But it is easy enough to turn this around, clear our minds, and find a new perspective.

by David J S Baker

Everybody has heard the chatter about various alternative medicines that are captivating droves of buyers. The truth is consumers are losing their trust in the health care industry and it’s insane public relations push in regards to pharmaceutical solutions. Drug enterprise czars don’t care about people’s well being. It’s greed for the all mighty dollar that drives there motivation.

If you are considering holistic healing to treat an ailment of the body mind or spirit it’s always wisest to research carefully before hopping into what looks awesome based on hype. I personally reference every type of approach I may be considering with published health and wellness product reviews.

Pretty much anybody who uses natural herbal medicine is capable of receiving some kind of benefit or another even though they may not initially be aware of it. Even so, the wisest advisers always recommend consulting a family doctor to make sure your dietary or whatever other change is safe. Backed with all that information empowers you to make more informed choices surrounding your health and wellness.

The smartest course of action to take is to find out everything you can about maintaining optimum health. You can never really know too much about healing your mind body and spirit. After-all we may only live once so why not live happy and healthy. Because health and wellness isn’t an exact science it’s always better to do your own research by consulting multiple sources.

This article was made for the purpose of offering public information regarding the importance of conducting health and wellness product research. The reason for that is I am concerned over the fact that there are thousands of misleading statements about herbal medicine.

Alternative medicine can work well for some people but for others with the same condition it may not work so well if at all. I speak from personal experience as I have experimented with many different herbal formulas. Even so I wouldn’t want to recommend anything because that’s not why I published this.

It’s important for you to do your own research when it comes to your health and wellness. Nobody can really recommend what will be beneficial for another person. Even though you may be more informed in making health choices by knowing what is helpful for others that won’t necessarily mean it will work for you.

In reality the health and wellness of your mind body and spirit are all connected to each other interdependently. I.E. It is the shared belief of many (myself included) that whatever level of health we are in on any level is being mirrored through all 3 aspects of our being: mind, body and spirit.

Soul or Spirit: An Immeasurable Presence

by Ava Saada

There are many strong beliefs regarding the soul and its meaning. Many religions attach the soul to an afterlife. The Egyptians even left text and food for life after life. Despite the differences between the religions there is still a common thread that connects our physical with a spiritual presence.

Some describe the soul as the breath of spirit, stating that our spirit is far too expansive to bring fully into the physical. Connection can be made between the concept of the soul and our chi, or life force energies.

Shamanism speaks of soul retrieval, restoring an aspect of ourselves lost through an event that traumatizes. Most separation within the soul is a protective act to preserve and avoid harm to the soul, though damage is perceived through the loss of oneself.

Why do we focus so strongly on the soul? Is it perhaps to find an identity that transcends the physical? Is it to retrieve a part of ourselves that our cultures encourage us to ignore? Maybe it is focusing on that part of us that lives beyond the clicking of the clock or beating of the heart.

“The soul is thyself; for thou knoest that which is different from soul and is perishable. But what is the soul? asked the king. The sage answered: He who dwells in the body, who heeds the body, and at whose departing the body suffers whilst he does not suffer, for uncertainty (such as the bodys) is not his - that is the soul. He delights in his beauty, he is immortal, fearless, and himself Creator. (Passage from The Penny Cyclopaedia of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, pg 176).

It is inevitable that while the world changes we will still retain our belief of our own spiritual presence. Call it the soul, or the spirit, it is the immeasurable presence that gives us a feeling of completeness.

Defining Our Own Spiritual Presence

There is a practice is the shamanic world called soul retrieval. It is believed that in trauma the soul, or a portion of the soul, can become detached from the physical presence, perhaps as a means to protect the delicate being. This separation can lead to a feeling of detachment, sadness, and loss.

The soul speaks loudly within the silence. We can turn within and bring focus to our own being. Immeasurable yes, but nothing in this world can deny us the presence of the soul.
