Advantages of Gardening

by Matt Truman

Gardening is a relaxing hobby which many people enjoy. There are numerous benefits to having your own garden, including physical, mental, and material. If you dont already have a garden, you will be excited to start one after reading this.

Since most people grow food, the most obvious yield is the food itself. Gardening is a great way to get free food, besides the cost of soil and fertilizer. Also, the food you get is usually much better than what you would buy at the store.

Since the majority of gardeners don’t use the kind of pesticides and chemicals that large scale farmers use, the entire yield will be completely organic. This means that it is better for you and the Earth as well. We are all bombarded with toxins every day, so having some organics to counter that is certainly useful.

Personal gardens are usually easy and relaxing to manage, but if you have a larger garden, it can be physically demanding to control it. This is a good thing, as the more exercise we have in our lives, the better off we are. In addition, exercise from gardening is less stressful than having to go to the gym.

Believe it or not, gardening can actually help make you smarter. Much knowledge is required to run an efficient garden, so you cannot be excessively dim-witted to do it. You may also like to read books about gardening too.

Maintaining your own garden is an extremely efficient way to reduce stress consistently throughout your life. Since stress is a significant contributor to serious conditions including heart disease and cancer, this fact is quite important. Of course, the organic food you get also strengthens your body too.

If you get enough food from your efforts, you should consider trying to convert it in to profit. Certain stores are willing to buy things from local producers, and if any family or friends are interested, that is an additional medium.

As you can see, the benefits from gardening are numerous, and these are only some of the things you will gain from participating in this great activity. You will also feel self-fulfilled, satisfied, and overall happier from interacting with nature in such a direct way.
